HERE IS SOME REALLY GREAT COMMUNITY NEWS WORTH SHARING: For 7 years our family participated in the . We loved it, and made tons of friends and great memories. One of the things the parents and kids always wanted was a field to call "their own." We never saw that come to but always hoped someday that would happen for those coming behind us.
Well, check this out. Port Orange Pop Warner was finally able to enter into an agreement with the City of Port Orange, put up $40,000 of their own money, and get a field of their own at the new Coraci Sports Park in Port Orange. But it gets better. Recently a group of really motivated parents and Pop Warner supporters pursued support from another sport . . . auto racing. What? Yep! Through a partnership, POYFA (Port Orange Youth Football Association) was able to secure a donation of grandstands that the speedway was getting rid of, still in great shape, that will sit up to 600 fans.
They received $5,000 from Brighthouse and $50,000 in in-kind donations from various business partners. But this gets EVEN BETTER . . . they then filed for a grant with the Daytona Beach Racing and Recreation program for additional funding to go towards further development to turn a simple grass field with two goal post into a true football field and complex. Well, proof that hard work pays off . . . POYFA recently found out that they will be receiving $146,400 from the DB Racing and Recreation organization!!!!!!!!!! WOW!
I want to extended a very heart felt and personal THANK YOU to all that have been a part of getting this project moving in the right direction. You all know who you are. Additionally, THANK YOU to some awesome business partners that have jumped in to help; Zev Cohen & Associates, Inc., Economy Electric, AAA Fence, FPL, Don Bell Signs, Paytas Homes, Walmart, Mullinax Ford, Kingspan and Family Days. Some really special things are happening in Port Orange! Stay tuned!
